Honestly, spend your money on a decent digital thermometer and a quality torch. Most phenomena can be documented with basic kit if it's actually there. The fancy stuff is fun but not essential.
This really does warrant professional investigation. There's a proper hypnotherapist based in Manchester who specialises in recovered abduction memories. I'll find the details if you want.
That said, if you're genuinely concerned, get a full physical from your GP - rule out infection, allergic reactions, etc. Also keep a sleep log going forward.

is it more of a historical curiosity? At this point it's definitely more historical than active. The phenomena seemed to peak in the 1930s-40s and have mostly ceased.

Did anyone catch that segment this morning? They sent a crew up Pendle Hill and basically spent 20 minutes explaining away every paranormal claim with 'folklore' and 'mass hysteria.' Fair enough...
