I'm posting this anonymously because my workplace wouldn't be happy if they knew I was putting this online, but I had something genuinely disturbing happen on the Central Line two weeks ago (January 9th) and I need to document it properly somewhere.

Morning commute, about 08:15, leaving Bank station heading toward Bethnal Green. The train was moderately busy - I remember noticing it was slightly older stock than usual. Between Moorgate and Old Street, everything got a bit blurry. Not like I blacked out, but like my perception got... soft? When it cleared - couldn't have been more than 30 seconds - we were at Old Street but the platform was completely empty. No staff, no passengers waiting, nothing.

The train doors opened and closed normally, but the station felt wrong. Lights were different colour. And then it felt like we moved again, and suddenly there were people everywhere and everything was normal.

Most likely explanation: I zoned out, missed a station, confabulated the memory. But I've commuted on that line for three years and it felt genuinely unusual. The woman next to me looked at me very oddly, then got off at the next stop even though she was reading a book like she was staying on.

Posting because I know there's been similar reports from other London transport users. Wondering if anyone else has experienced weird time perception on the Underground?

There's actually a minor subreddit dedicated to London Underground "glitches" - people reporting similar temporal distortions, stations appearing different, missing time. Nothing scientifically documented, obviously, but enough reports that it's worth noting.

Have you checked the Circle/Central/Metropolitan lines specifically? There are some very old tunnels under London (Roman roads, old plague pits, etc.) that might create unusual electromagnetic conditions. Could be influencing perception, or could be something weirder.

That detail is interesting. Either she was genuinely spooked by something (implying you both experienced something unusual) or she reacted to your reaction. Hard to say which.

The old Central Line stock does have reported issues with LED flickering (documented on transport forums). Could affect perception, cause disorientation. But that wouldn't explain the woman's behaviour or the station looking different.

Worth keeping notes of anything else unusual you experience on that route. Could be one-off, could be pattern-building data.

This is exactly why I stopped using the Tube. Not even paranormal reasons - I just get profound unreality sensations deep underground. Some places do that to people. London's got so much history underground that it probably affects perception in ways we don't understand.

Has anyone done actual paranormal investigation on the Underground? There's a lot of historical death and violence down there (Victorian accidents, wartime bombing, all sorts). Would be genuinely interesting to see if there's anomalous activity or if it's just psychological response to being underground.
