BBC Breakfast just covered Pendle Hill - thoughts on their 'debunking'?

Did anyone catch that segment this morning? They sent a crew up Pendle Hill and basically spent 20 minutes explaining away every paranormal claim with 'folklore' and 'mass hysteria.' Fair enough on some of the witch trial stuff, but they completely ignored the recent thermal imaging work done by that paranormal team from Manchester.

The presenter kept that smug look the whole time. You know the one. Like they're too clever for us simple ghost hunters. They interviewed one 'expert' from some university who'd clearly never actually been up there at night. Just saying, a bit of open-mindedness wouldn't kill them.

Anyone fancy organising a proper investigation up there and actually sending them the evidence? Might be time to prove the BBC wrong on this one.

Mate, the BBC have had it out for the paranormal community for years. Remember that documentary on Borley Rectory where they basically said all the phenomena was just the house settling? The house that's been thoroughly investigated by dozens of credible researchers? Mental.

This is exactly the problem though, innit? They bring in academics who've read books about these places but have never actually spent a night there feeling the atmosphere. It's like reviewing a pub without ever having a pint in it.

To be fair, most hauntings can be explained by wind patterns, old building materials, and suggestion. I'm not saying there's nothing to it, but the BBC weren't entirely wrong either. Pendle Hill is brilliant for history, but that doesn't mean it's haunted.

Their 'debunking' was lazy journalism at best. Did they mention the monks that were supposedly seen near the summit in the 1970s? Or the temperature drops documented by the Lancashire Paranormal Society? Of course not. Doesn't fit their narrative.

I was up there last month with some mates and honestly the atmosphere is weird. Could be psychological, could be something else. But you're right that the BBC team spent about as much effort investigating as I did on my GCSEs.
