Honestly? Save your money. Spirit boxes are the pyramid schemes of ghost hunting - expensive, unreliable, and you'll convince yourself they work because you paid for them.
how do you differentiate between genuine interaction and the human brain being brilliant at finding patterns? You do controlled sessions.

I've been lurking on this forum and some others for a while and I keep noticing that cryptozoology discussion is often split between "true believers" and "hardcore skeptics" with very little...
There's interesting research suggesting certain frequencies (around 19Hz) can induce feelings of unease and potentially enhance perception. Not saying it'll get you EVP, but worth experimenting.

Hello everyone! I'm Sarah, been lurking on Quirk Reports for about eight months now and finally worked up the courage to join properly.
I've been fascinated by Borley Rectory (the 'most haunted house in England') for years, and whilst the original site's long gone, I'm wondering how a modern investigator would approach a location...
No way that's lanterns. The acceleration the OP described isn't compatible with that. I've seen Chinese lanterns and this sounds completely different.

Chinese lanterns mate. Gets reported every time someone sees orange lights. Probably a farmer two miles away burning something.

Why would they even bother with such an obvious cover story unless something genuinely anomalous happened?Because government agencies are staffed by human beings who make stupid decisions?
Bodmin's got serious documented history. Ghostly horseman sightings, mysterious lights, odd disappearances. It's not the friendliest location paranormally speaking.

Controversial take, I know, but hear me out. The Rendlesham Forest incident in December 1980 is typically filed under UFO/government cover-up territory.
Before anyone analyzes it, we should establish: what's the date and time? Weather conditions? Direction it was moving? These things matter for debunking purposes.

I use a Zoom H6 recorder with a shotgun microphone. Bit more expensive but way better signal-to-noise ratio. The key is eliminating ambient interference as much as possible.
I've done controlled spirit box sessions where we've gotten responses that seemed impossible to coincidence. Questions answered correctly, names of people the medium didn't know.
There was activity reported over Bodmin about a month ago. Did you get any video? The detail about the acceleration is crucial - that rules out most conventional explanations.

The lighthouse explanation was added much later as damage control. The original MoD response was very different.
Brighton pier footage is usually just fairground lights reflecting off the water, mate. But send it over anyway - I'm curious.

Welcome! Don't worry about judgment here. One of the best things about Quirk Reports is that people actually take the subject seriously. You'll find your people. 👍

Pareidolia is the real problem with EVP work, honestly. The human brain is pattern-recognition machine.

I'm not sure why I'm writing this down now, but it's been getting worse and I need to tell someone who won't think I'm completely mad.
