Skip the thermal for now, get a proper EMF metre (FLIR makes decent ones around £80) and an infra-red thermometer. Thermal imaging is nice-to-have, not essential.

Welcome aboard! No specific protocol, just dive in. Check the FAQ section first to familiarize yourself with how analysis threads work (helps if you want to post evidence).

If it continues, document everything. Dates, times, what moved, weather, your emotional state. Pattern recognition is key with poltergeist activity.

In fairness, if I saw something genuinely weird, this is the last place I'd post because I'd get absolutely roasted by the 'skeptics.' Can't blame people for being vague when they know they'll get...

Right, I've been sitting on this for weeks and my mates think I've lost the plot, but I need to get it out somewhere.
It did have a tail, yes. Definitely longer than a dog's tail. Whip-like? That's actually what struck me most - the way it moved separately from the body, like a cat's tail not a dog's.
You're not wrong though. The quality of 'evidence' on here is laughable sometimes. Someone saw a light in the sky with no context, no photo, no nothing, and suddenly everyone's discussing alien...

Happy birthday Quirk Reports! Looking forward to what's coming. Hope the redesign makes searching historical reports easier.

I'd recommend looking for used FLIR cameras on eBay - you can sometimes find older models for £300-400. They're infinitely better than smartphone stuff and actually useable for proper analysis.

The redactions are interesting though. Just because they investigated doesn't mean it was alien. Could've been classified military testing.
To be fair, Venus does move in strange ways if you don't know what you're looking at. I've convinced at least four mates that what they saw was definitely aliens when it was just the evening star.

I've been browsing the encounters forum and honestly, 99% of the posts are just people seeing Venus and having an existential crisis about it.

The smartphone thermal attachments are a bit gimmicky, if I'm honest. Worked with a few, and the image quality is underwhelming compared to even mid-range dedicated thermal cameras.

Brilliant work you lot. This is genuinely the most sensible paranormal community online. Cheers for keeping it real. 🍺
Whitechapel being blessed by a priest and it stopping is pretty significant. That's not placebo - that's something responding to spiritual intervention.
Before assuming supernatural, get a carbon monoxide detector. Seriously. Low-level CO poisoning causes disorientation, memory gaps, and psychological effects that feel very real.

Poor Derek. Stuck in a basement reading about black cats on Cannock Chase when he could be doing literally anything else.

Alright, I'm properly chuffed to find this forum. I've been interested in paranormal stuff for years but mostly kept it quiet because, well, people judge.
This is brilliant. Derek would definitely post 'source?' on all our threads as a cover. Classic Derek move.

Did it have a tail? That's usually the tell. Describe the tail more - that'll help identify it.
