Hello everyone! I'm Sarah, been lurking on Quirk Reports for about eight months now and finally worked up the courage to join properly. I'm from near Manchester and I've been interested in the paranormal since I was about fourteen after my gran's old house in Cheshire had some very odd occurrences (doors opening on their own, that sort of thing).

I'm mainly interested in hauntings and historical mysteries, but I'm keen to learn more about everything really. I've got a decent torch, a notebook, and way too much time on my hands. Should I start with the ghost hunting techniques forum or jump into general discussion? Also, is anyone in the North West? Would be brilliant to connect with local people.

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome aboard, Sarah! You've come to the right place. I'd honestly say start by reading through some of the pinned threads in Ghost Hunting Techniques - there's a brilliant guide on basic equipment that'll save you quid. Then maybe introduce yourself properly in General Chat and see who's about in your area. The community's really friendly, don't worry!

Cheshire hauntings! That's proper interesting. There's loads of history there - Tudor buildings, old hospitals, all that good stuff. Before you go full paranormal investigator mode, have a browse through Ancient Mysteries too. Context is everything in this hobby. And yes, there's definitely folks up North. You'll find them.

Welcome! Just a heads up - the Equipment Guides forum can get a bit gatekeepy about which torches and cameras are 'proper' kit, so don't take it personally if someone suggests you upgrade. People mean well. Have a read first, ask questions second. Enjoy! 🙂
