Three generations living in the same house means three generations of people expecting it to be haunted, which is actually quite powerful from a psychological perspective.

Love this. The Personal Encounters forum has basically become unusable because every post gets swarmed with either &quot. Nice story, definitely ghosts&quot. Or &quot.

I've read about Borley Rectory maybe a hundred times across various books and sites, but I still can't figure out if it's a legitimate haunted location or if Harry Price completely fabricated the...
Electromagnetic activity does vary seasonally - solar activity cycles, geomagnetic storms, all that stuff.

The speed, the jerky gait This is the detail that interests me. Can you remember anything else about it? Colouring, whether it seemed to have fur or clothing, whether it made any sound?

You've spotted the fundamental problem with paranormal discussion: the stakes feel personal. To a skeptic, belief in the paranormal represents credulity, bad thinking, rejection of science.

This happens over Manchester fairly regularly actually. I've got three reports in my local paranormal database from the last two years, including one from someone in Stockport who saw almost...

Could be multiple factors: atmospheric pressure changes between seasons, temperature affecting equipment performance, your own mental state being different in winter (darker, more introspective,...

This is probably necessary but I'm also slightly worried it will just make people less willing to post evidence at all. Nobody wants to have their photos analysed to death.

I've been doing EVP recordings for about four years now and I've noticed something that might be worth discussing: my results are noticeably better during the winter months, particularly December...
Been reading about Spring-heeled Jack (Victorian London's most infamous entity/person/whatever) and I noticed something that might be interesting: the reported sightings cluster heavily around...

Can you upload the photos? That's literally the first thing everyone will ask anyway. Camera model, lighting conditions, time of day, ISO settings - all that matters.

Nah I get exactly what you mean. October 31st has this weird energy to it, not just Halloween party energy but something else.

Agree - would also be useful for people scheduling investigations or location visits. You could plan around peak times if you wanted activity or avoid them if you wanted quiet research.

Bodmin Moor at night in fog is exactly the kind of place where you'd have genuine encounters. There's loads of old mine workings, isolation, folklore goes back centuries.

I've been on Quirk Reports for about five months and I genuinely love this community. But I keep noticing the same pattern: someone posts something genuinely interesting - like that Borley Rectory...

Bring a proper torch, not just your mobile torch. The battery dies from the cold anyway. Also maybe don't go alone? It gets properly dark up there and the paths are treacherous.

I think it's mostly psychological mate. Halloween's been built up as 'spooky night' since we were kids, so our brains are primed to find things scary.

My gran's farmhouse is about three miles outside Hebden Bridge on the moors, and it's been in our family for nearly 150 years.
