This sounds like the kind of thing that happens a lot over cities and nobody talks about it. The fact you didn't film it is exactly why these reports never get taken seriously - not your fault,...
Last time I went it was absolute chaos and I got my wallet nicked. Would not recommend. Go in April.

Genuinely asking because I feel like I'm going slightly mad. Every October 31st, even before it gets dark, I start getting this creeping anxiety. Not scared exactly, but sort of...

Have you looked at 'A History of Haunted Britain' by Peter Underwood? It's older (1988 or so) but much more careful about sources and the author actually visited most of the locations.
The actual solstice access is restricted now - you have to get through English Heritage. It's not cheap and it's quite controlled.

It's basically just "place X is allegedly haunted because in 1887 someone reported seeing a ghost there." There's no follow-up, no attempt to verify, no analysis of whether the reports are...

I appreciate the intent here but this feels like it's going to slow things down massively. Part of the fun of paranormal forums is the quick back-and-forth, not everyone having to write a thesis...

I went three years running and the energy honestly does feel different on solstice night. Whether that's the place, the date, or just everyone's expectations aligning, I can't say.

The merch thing is what gets me. If you're genuinely trying to investigate something paranormal, why are you selling t-shirts with the logo on them? That's just...

Bit of a nightmare coding-wise probably but yeah, nice thought. Would definitely cut down on the repetitive 'is anyone experiencing activity tonight' threads.

The Haworth reading though - that's actually interesting. Did you check for power lines on a map afterwards? The moorland around there has some old infrastructure. Also, what time of day was it?

The Bodmin Beast sightings from the 80s were mostly big cats, possibly escaped exotics. But your description sounds different.
I did a winter solstice vigil up there in 2021 with a small group and honestly? The darkness, the wind, the isolation... your mind plays tricks on you.

Yeah, that book's frustrating because it had potential to be something really good. The author did the research (you can tell from the bibliography), but the execution is basically &quot.

when you own a "haunted" property, hire paranormal investigators, and film everything continuously, you're going to find something to filmThis is actually a solid point though.

I had exactly this problem - turned out I had sleep apnoea. When you're not getting proper sleep, your brain gets weird and paranoid.

Did you get any photos? I know you were probably too shocked, but future reference - always try to get something on your mobile.
I've heard from a mate who works at a local pub that there's something about the solstice energies Mate, everything sounds more mysterious when a pub mate says it. That's just the cider talking.

any genuine paranormal/spiritual experience gets completely lost If you need thousands of drunk people around you to have a spiritual experience, is it really a genuine one?
Could've been a deer or large animal spooked by your car, seen through fog and darkness which distorts everything.
