Does anyone else get more paranoid on Halloween night or is it just me?

Genuinely asking because I feel like I'm going slightly mad. Every October 31st, even before it gets dark, I start getting this creeping anxiety. Not scared exactly, but sort of... heightened awareness? Like someone's watching you but they're just outside your peripheral vision.

My sister says I'm being ridiculous and it's all psychological, which fair point, but she also locks her bedroom door on Halloween which she doesn't do any other night, so clearly it's affecting her too.

Is this a common thing or am I just being a bit daft? Anyone else feel it?

I think it's mostly psychological mate. Halloween's been built up as 'spooky night' since we were kids, so our brains are primed to find things scary. Plus everyone's talking about ghosts and demons all day, watching horror films, etc. It's a massive cultural amplification of the supernatural. Your sister locking the door is probably just habit and suggestion.

Nah I get exactly what you mean. October 31st has this weird energy to it, not just Halloween party energy but something else. I've read theories that the veil between worlds is thinner on that night (Samhain and all that) so spirits might be more active. Could be that some people are just more sensitive to it.

I work night shifts and October 31st is always the busiest night at the hospital - more accidents, more emergencies, more violent incidents. Might just be people being rowdy and drunk but the staff definitely notices a pattern every year. So yeah, something does feel different.

Lock the door, leave a light on, don't watch horror films before bed. Sorted. This is genuinely just your brain being a drama queen.
