Been doing a bit of research on Spring-heeled Jack and I'm genuinely curious how much of this is actual documented evidence versus Victorian hysteria and folklore.
Tall, thin, gliding motion - sounds potentially like a Skinwalker or similar phenomenon. I know that sounds ridiculous but the Yorkshire Moors do get reports like this with surprising frequency.

it's incredibly easy to hear patterns in white noise if you're listening for them This is literally the entire foundation of EVP work though.
My mate works for the council and he's been getting calls from residents in the Guildford area reporting large felids - described as black or tawny, moving like a big cat, definitely not a dog.
people promoting their dodgy courses or products This is what annoys me most. Someone makes some YouTube videos about crystals or ghost hunting and suddenly they're selling a £200 online course.
This happened about three weeks ago, August 15th, around 7:30pm. I was walking the Yorkshire Moors near Hebden Bridge - lovely evening, clear skies, still quite light out.
the movement is absolutely wrongThis is probably down to camera angle, low light compensation, and 2am assumptions. Our brains are terrible at interpreting movement in security footage.
He couldn't talk about specifics due to his service commitment This is the classic issue - anybody could say "my relative saw something classified but can't talk about it." It's unfalsifiable.

Actually this is a really sensible suggestion. Could implement it without closing off discussion - just a way to flag that expert analysis has been done.
Have you considered reaching out to the Highlands Wildlife Trust? They might have official reports of large unidentified animals in that region. Could help build a pattern.

I've been doing EVP for years and yeah, pareidolia is brutal. You listen to white noise long enough and you hear conversations.

Hard pass on this. The moment you start officially marking things as 'debunked,' you're shutting down discussion.
Alright, so I've read loads about supposedly haunted Underground stations - the woman on the Circle Line, St. Paul's, various other claims.
I've been twice. First time, absolutely nothing. Second time, my mobile went completely haywire - wouldn't hold a signal, camera kept freezing.

Can you link the photo? Before diving into analysis, need to know: when was it taken, what direction was the camera facing, what time of year, weather conditions at the time?

This is genuinely refreshing to see. Most EVP enthusiasts are completely unwilling to apply rigorous standards to their own work.

Rendlesham's one of the best-documented military UFO incidents and there's tonnes of declassified evidence showing the military definitely took something seriously.

Glen Affric reports! Finally. I've heard two other accounts from that exact area - both from reliable sources.

I've been recording EVP for about eighteen months and I'm getting increasingly sceptical of my own results.
Two-year investigator here. Honestly spend the money on training and location access rather than equipment. Learning proper investigation technique is worth more than any kit.
