Been meaning to post this for ages. Still feels mental to talk about it, even now. So this happened in April 2019 near Glen Affric in the Highlands. I was on a solo hiking trip - four days in, tent, the works. Absolutely gorgeous scenery, dead quiet, no other campers for miles.

Third night, something absolutely massive moved through my campsite around 2am. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was enormous - the sound of it shifting through the bracken was like a small elephant crashing through. My dog (I had her with me) absolutely lost it, barking and growling. I've got a good torch and I actually tried to shine it toward the sound, but the batteries died. Weird, right? They were fresh Duracells.

Never saw anything clearly, but I could feel something large and warm nearby. Sounds daft, but the temperature honestly seemed to change. The smell was rank - like wet dog mixed with something mineral and ancient. My dog wouldn't stop barking until whatever it was moved off into the trees.

I packed up at first light and left. Haven't been back since, but I still think about that night constantly.

Definitely sounds like you encountered something unusual, though I'd say: bears, moose, or even a large elk can cause exactly this kind of reaction. The UK doesn't have Sasquatches - there's no breeding population, no bones, no real evidence whatsoever. What you heard could've been a roe deer or a wild boar, amplified by being alone in the dark.

The battery thing is interesting though. There's genuinely some research (from Skinwalker Ranch investigations) suggesting high electromagnetic activity around large cryptids. Might not be coincidence. Did you experience any other electrical issues - watch, torch, anything else?

This is actually more convincing to me than a visual sighting, honestly. Animals have presence - they displace air, they create pressure changes. Dogs are incredibly sensitive to things humans can't detect. What breed was your dog? Some breeds are bred specifically to chase large game.

Glen Affric reports! Finally. I've heard two other accounts from that exact area - both from reliable sources. There's definitely something in the Scottish Highlands that's larger than deer and more cautious than a typical wild animal. Whether it's an undocumented primate or something else entirely, who knows. But you're not alone in experiencing this.

Have you considered reaching out to the Highlands Wildlife Trust? They might have official reports of large unidentified animals in that region. Could help build a pattern. Also, would you ever go back with better equipment - thermal camera, proper audio recording?
