Can we please have a 'Debunked' category for threads?

Look, I love this forum. Genuinely. But I'm getting frustrated scrolling through months of old threads only to find out halfway down the comments that someone already explained the phenomenon six months ago. The Rendlesham Forest stuff, the various light sightings - they get rehashed constantly because there's no central repository of what's actually been properly investigated and put to bed.

Suggestion: Could we have a mod-approved 'Debunked' tag or category? Not to be dismissive of experiences (plenty of stuff genuinely can't be explained), but as a way of saying 'this specific claim has been thoroughly examined and here's what we found.'

Would save everyone time and make the forum feel less like Groundhog Day. What do people think?

Strong agree. I spent four hours last week reading through a UFO sighting thread only to discover the object in question had been publicly confirmed as a Chinese satellite by a professional astronomer. A simple tag would've saved me the evening.

The problem is defining 'debunked.' One person's thorough explanation is another person's cover-up narrative. Could get messy fast. Maybe a better system would be a 'Resolution' flair that people can add themselves, with mods able to override if it's obviously wrong?

Hard pass on this. The moment you start officially marking things as 'debunked,' you're shutting down discussion. Some of the most interesting breakthroughs come from revisiting old cases with new information. Better to let threads age naturally.

Actually this is a really sensible suggestion. Could implement it without closing off discussion - just a way to flag that expert analysis has been done. Doesn't prevent people from adding new theories. Worth putting to the mod team.
