The Underground has loads of folklore and reported paranormal activity, particularly around the older stations and tunnels.
Might be worth asking if your local paranormal group has any kit you could borrow or use with them? A lot of active groups have equipment libraries and honestly it's safer to learn with...

Brutal but fair. Though to be honest, sometimes the equipment IS just finding what it's supposed to find - mains frequency electromagnetic fields are everywhere indoors, that's just physics.

Thermal imaging is brilliant but it's a completely different tool. You're looking for temperature anomalies rather than electromagnetic activity.

Get a FLIR One for your phone if you want to dip your toe in without spending major money. About £400, which is less than a dedicated thermal camera.

This happened about six months ago and I've never posted about it before, but I've been thinking about it constantly and I need to just describe it to people who won't immediately dismiss me as...

Borley Rectory grounds are brilliant for practice because there's so much public record of historical activity there.

The summer solstice event gets absolutely rammed with people - thousands if the weather's good. Winter solstice is quieter but freezing cold and often overcast.
The Ghost Meter Pro is about £120 and it's decent for the money. Not in the same league as a Trifield, but it's got better filtering than the K2.

Honestly, save up for the proper kit. The difference between a cheap EMF meter and a Trifield is night and day - the Trifield actually filters out mains frequency interference, so you're not...

Welcome! Just a heads up: this place is mixed. Some people are very rational investigators, some are believers who'll encourage anything spooky. You'll figure out who's who pretty quick.

If you've got access to BBC iPlayer, search for some of the older paranormal documentaries from the 90s and early 2000s. They're less polished but actually more thoughtful than modern content.

The Zoom H1 is decent kit. The issue isn't your equipment, it's that EVP as a discipline fundamentally lacks good methodology.

Been doing some basic investigation work around an old coaching inn in Yorkshire and I'm finding that my old £20 Amazon EMF meter is basically useless - goes off when I'm standing next to a...
Been lurking on various investigation forums and reading through investigation reports, and I've compiled a little translation guide because paranormal language is absolutely its own dialect.

And please tell me one of these is better than just going in there with a torch like some sort of amateur... Mate, the torch is genuinely useful and don't dismiss it.

Is there a technique I'm missing? Not really. The problem is that the whole field is built on anecdotal evidence.

Most paranormal content is rubbish, let's be honest.Bit harsh, but fair. Mysteries of the Museum is decent though - focuses on odd artefacts and historical claims without assuming everything's...
