Hi everyone, I'm new here and feeling a bit daft posting this, but I've been lurking for months and finally decided to join because I need to talk to people who won't immediately dismiss what I've experienced.

I'm Sarah, I'm 34, I work in marketing in London, and I'm fairly skeptical by nature. Which is probably why I've avoided joining paranormal communities until now - I don't want to be lumped in with people who see ghosts in their kitchen cupboards. But something happened to me in my flat in Bethnal Green three months ago that I can't explain, and it's started happening again.

Without getting into the full story (I'll post about it properly once I'm more comfortable here), basically I've experienced multiple occasions of objects being moved or appearing in places I didn't put them, and twice I've heard my name whispered when I'm alone. No one else has heard it, no one else has witnessed the object-moving. My flatmate thinks I'm stressed and forgetting things. But I know I'm not mad, and I know what I've experienced.

I'm hoping to connect with people who take this stuff seriously but also have some critical thinking about it. Nice to meet you all!

Welcome Sarah! Great to have a new member with some actual skepticism in the mix. The forum works best when people are genuinely trying to investigate their experiences rather than just looking for validation. Feel free to post the full story whenever you're ready - no judgment here, promise.

What you're describing could be several things: genuinely paranormal, psychological (not an insult, honestly), environmental factors like CO2 build-up causing memory issues, or even very subtle seismic activity causing things to shift. Bethnal Green's got old buildings. Before jumping to hauntings, might be worth ruling out the mundane stuff first?

Have you considered keeping a log? Write down exactly what you've experienced, when, what the weather was like, whether you'd slept well, if you'd eaten properly, mood state - all of it. Over a few weeks you might spot patterns. If you also have a mate note anything they observe (without telling them what to look for), that's independent verification. Good data beats anecdotes every time.

Bethnal Green's got some gnarly history - there was a tube station disaster in the 1940s. Not suggesting that's what's happening in your flat, but the area does have reports. Once you're more comfortable, definitely share specifics. We've got members who specialize in East London locations.

Welcome! Just a heads up: this place is mixed. Some people are very rational investigators, some are believers who'll encourage anything spooky. You'll figure out who's who pretty quick. Trust the ones who ask questions rather than just validate your fears. Good luck with your experience!
