Don't bother with all this really. Most paranormal activity is better documented with basic equipment - high-sensitivity audio recorders (EVP work), still cameras with good flash, EMF meters.

Have you checked what aircraft were operating in that airspace that evening? Could cross-reference with flight tracking data.

Brilliant that you're being upfront about your skepticism. The paranormal field attracts too much magical thinking and not enough rigor.

Attention everyone: we're performing essential server maintenance on Wednesday 28th February from 6pm to 11pm GMT.
I've recently picked up a FLIR E5 (cost me £850, bit pricey but worth it for the quality) and I'm planning to do some investigations on the Yorkshire moors over the next few months.
I disagree with the lantern hypothesis. The light signature is too uniform and the movement pattern is too precise.

Those are absolutely Chinese lanterns. Look at the colour temperature - warm white consistent with combustion.

Fair warning: you'll find some true believers here who don't appreciate questioning, but most of us respect healthy skepticism.

Fair warning - thermal imaging requires a learning curve. Thermal artifacts, reflectivity issues, temperature compensation - there's a lot of ways to get false positives.

Good on you for being open-minded enough to reconsider. My suggestion would be to read through some of the debunking threads alongside the positive reports - seeing both sides helps you calibrate...

Skip the phone thermal cameras entirely - the resolution is garbage and they're overpriced for the quality. For night vision, grab a decent monocular from Amazon (£60-90) rather than full goggles.
Something happened about six months ago that I can't explainThis is the common path into the paranormal community - usually something personal breaks the initial skepticism.

Mate, this is exactly what I saw near Colne two years ago. I know how mad it sounds. Have you contacted any local astronomy groups? They sometimes track these things.

The doors hadn't opened. This gave me actual chills. That's not a reflection issue. That's someone or something that shouldn't have been there.

This is exactly the kind of thing worth pursuing systematically. Network with local naturalist groups and wildlife photographers - they often have trail camera footage and expertise.
