But I'm genuinely curious whether it's actually haunted or if we're all just going there because of the witch trials narrativeTHIS. This is the whole problem with paranormal tourism in Britain.

Worth listening to as an overview of the phenomena, worth taking with several pinches of salt on the specific claims. It's decent pop science but not rigorous.

The real issue is that phone apps are designed to be entertaining, not scientific. They'll pick up any EM field and then play spooky sounds or show scary words as interpretation, which is complete...

Have you been stressed lately? Sleep paralysis is more common when you're anxious or haven't been sleeping well. The brain does weird things when it's exhausted.

If phone apps genuinely don't work, I'd like to be able to explain why to newer investigatorsThis is the right approach.
Like, you're not going to have dramatic music playing while someone discusses mundane explanations.Exactly. Podcast production is inherently biased toward the extraordinary.

I went there in 2019 with my mate Derek and honestly... nothing. We walked around for three hours, tried to use his EMF meter (which he'd bought off eBay for £12.99), and the most paranormal thing...
The 3:47am timing is interesting. That's within the classic 'witching hour' range (3-4am). It's when veil is thinnest according to pretty much every paranormal tradition.

I've done side-by-side testing and honestly it depends on the phone and the app. Newer phones with more sensitive magnetometers can actually give decent relative readings.
That said, Skinwalker Ranch has genuinely weird stuff that happened there regardless of how it's presented. Just because the podcast format makes it sound spooky doesn't mean nothing happened.

Podcasts about fringe topics are entertainment first, journalism second. They have to maintain listener interest, which means sensationalizing ambiguities.

I could feel it watching me.That's the key thing right there. Sleep paralysis doesn't generate genuine sentience in the hallucination - it's just a visual/sensory glitch.

Phone apps are mostly rubbish, I'm afraid. The sensors in phones are designed for compass functionality and other stuff - they're not calibrated for actual EMF detection.

Right, I'm planning a trip up to Lancashire next month and obviously Pendle Hill is on the list. But I'm genuinely curious whether it's actually haunted or if we're all just going there because of...

Robbins is one of the best UFO researchers working today. His book on the history of MoD cover-ups is also brilliant if you haven't read it.

Been listening to some deep dives on Skinwalker Ranch and I'm torn between finding it genuinely compelling and thinking I'm just enjoying a well-produced fiction podcast.
The site has been stripped clean by paranormal tourism honestly. Every serious investigator has been through there, every ounce of potentially useful evidence has been catalogued or stolen by...

I see a lot of newbies in the community using apps like 'Ghost Radar' or 'EMF Detector' on their mobiles as their main investigative tool.
Classic sleep paralysis experience by all the markers. The inability to move, the hallucination of a presence, the physical sensations - all textbook neurological phenomena.
