I found the book a bit credulous, if I'm honest. It treats witness testimony as equally valid to physical evidence when actually human memory is notoriously unreliable, especially in high-stress...
Don't let the skeptics discourage you. Your experiences are valid and the fact that you're approaching this thoughtfully rather than jumping to wild conclusions shows good critical thinking.

Opening doors and footsteps are often just normal house settling or vibration from upstairs neighbours (if you're in a flat block).

This happened to me about three weeks ago and I'm still genuinely disturbed by it. I went to bed around 11pm, nothing unusual.
Nice report! One thing worth noting - Borley Rectory's reputation might actually be partly overstated.

Welcome Claire! You've come to the right place. The best approach as a beginner is genuine curiosity without jumping to conclusions.

Have you considered that the moors might want to be investigated? The thermal anomalies might not be false positives.

The helicopter explanation is absolute nonsense and even the mod report kind of admits it halfway through.

Good housekeeping. The forum's been getting slow lately so hopefully this helps with performance. See you Wednesday night everyone!

FLIR E5 is decent kit but honestly for moor work you might want to go full environmental monitoring - thermal, EMF, humidity all at once.

Finally got around to reading Peter Robbins' updated analysis of the Rendlesham Forest incident (picked it up on Amazon for £12.99).
Hi everyone, I'm Claire and I'm completely new to this whole paranormal investigation thing. I found Quirk Reports through a Google search and the community seems really welcoming and...
Borley is absolutely still active. I've been there three times and every visit has been unsettling. The legend of the nun is real - I got clear EVP on my last visit of what sounded like a woman's...

Will we be losing any data? Asking because I've got some detailed investigation reports I haven't backed up. Just want to make sure everything's secure before the maintenance happens.

Fine by me - we can all use a break from the internet anyway. Maybe go investigate something locally instead of doom-scrolling. Use the time productively!

The Cairngorms have a long history of sightings. I've got documentation going back to the 1950s of similar formations.

Get yourself a dry bag or a pelican case for the camera itself. Moisture inside the lens is your enemy.

High EMF readings near an old rectory site are usually just legacy contamination - old wiring buried underground, or mineral deposits. Doesn't necessarily indicate paranormal activity.

Honestly the methodology question is the most important one in paranormal research and most investigators avoid it. Happy to have someone willing to engage with it seriously.

I finally made the pilgrimage to what's left of Borley Rectory in Essex yesterday (Sunday Feb 25th).
