Right, so I was out walking near Hebden Bridge with my partner around 10:30pm on Saturday (15th Nov) when we both saw what I can only describe as three bright orange lights moving in formation across the sky. They weren't helicopters - no sound whatsoever, which was the strangest bit. They moved too slowly to be planes but too deliberately to be Chinese lanterns or balloons.

The whole sighting lasted about two minutes before they just... disappeared. No fade-out, no descending, just gone. My partner was genuinely spooked and wanted to head back to the car immediately. I managed to get about 20 seconds of shaky video on my mobile but it's basically useless - just orange blurs on a black background.

Has anyone else seen similar in Yorkshire recently? I'm not one for jumping to conclusions but this has properly rattled me.

I saw something similar near Skipton last month! Three orange lights in a triangular formation, moved completely silently. I checked the RAF website and there were no notified exercises that evening. Definitely not balloons either - these moved with too much purpose. You're not mad!

Sorry but this screams Chinese lanterns to me. They do sometimes cluster in groups and can appear to 'disappear' when they get high enough that you lose visual. What was the colour temperature like? Were they flickering at all?

Could've been flares from a military exercise. The MOD does low-level ops over the Pennines fairly regularly. Try filing a report with the UK National UFO Reporting Centre - they keep proper records and might cross-reference with other sightings.

Mate, this is exactly what I saw near Colne two years ago. I know how mad it sounds. Have you contacted any local astronomy groups? They sometimes track these things. Also worth checking if any local Facebook groups have posts about it - quite often multiple witnesses post independently.
