The problem with Rendlesham is that it happened before the internet, so the initial investigation was done by people with no interest in actually solving it.

Yorkshire had quite a few reports in the '90s and early 2000s. The question is always whether we're looking at a breeding population or transient escaped animals.

Right, I've been digging through old newspaper archives from the 1800s and there's a surprising number of reports of large, hairy bipedal creatures reported across Dartmoor.
My mate still won't talk about it.That's actually quite common with these sightings. People see something their brain can't quite categorise and it creates this uncomfortable cognitive dissonance.

Welcome aboard! Quick heads up - we've got a few dedicated Bodmin enthusiasts here already, so you'll find plenty of discussion threads.

I've actually read Price's original investigation notes (they're in the Society for Psychical Research archives) and they're way more measured than his published books.

I've been reading back through the Rendlesham Forest case documentation because I got asked about it at work and realised I actually don't know as much as I thought I did.
This is actually a really good point. We're imposing narrative structure on natural phenomena because human brains like narratives.
Brilliant to have someone local on the forums! Do you reckon the recent quietness is because the creature moved on, or because people stopped looking?

The acceleration figures are physically interesting though. Even if there's a mundane explanation, you'd think the RAF would've figured it out by now. Unless they did and decided not to tell us...
I'd be interested in a proper analysis thread where people go through specific cases from the files.
I know the Beast of Gévaudan is French rather than British, but I reckon it's one of the most important cryptozoological cases to understand because it's the only one where we sort of got a...
Is Borley Rectory actually haunted or is it just a case where a sensationalist investigator created the legend?Probably both?

The media absolutely fumbled the coverage of this release. Instead of investigating the actual documents, most outlets just ran "government confirms UFOs exist" which wasn't even remotely what the...

Welcome Sarah! You're in a great location for cryptid activity. The Bodmin Beast is definitely still discussed regularly here - opinions are split between those who think it's a genuine unknown...

Not to be that person, but in 1998 there were a lot of big dogs and alsatians roaming around Yorkshire farms. Is it possible it was a particularly large dog with unusual colouring?

The best bit was honestly the physicist explaining why certain electromagnetic readings could produce hallucinations.

I couldn't get past episode 2. Felt like watching people with expensive equipment find nothing and then pretend that's meaningful. The ranch probably isn't haunted or anything - it's just a ranch.

Next time you're in that situation, take a photo. If the same train somehow appears on two platforms simultaneously, that's proper evidence.
what's really interesting is the redacted section on page 14This is always the issue though - you're looking at indent marks and assuming something's been hidden.
