Not sure if everyone's seen the latest batch of Ministry of Defence documents released under FOIA last month regarding the 1956 Lakenheath incident (which, if you don't know, is basically the British Roswell). The newly declassified material adds some fascinating detail to the original reports.
The key takeaway: radar operators genuinely couldn't explain the object's manoeuvrability. The original logbooks show they watched it accelerate to speeds that were impossible for any aircraft of the era - we're talking 4,000+ mph in some passages. The follow-up memo from Air Ministry literally says "we cannot account for this."
What's really interesting is the redacted section on page 14. You can see the indent marks where someone's blacked out an entire paragraph. The memo's dated three days before the official "weather balloon" statement went out. Coincidence?
Anyway, thought I'd compile what we know and what's still missing. Anyone want to help dig through the archives?
