Skinwalker Ranch documentary on Netflix—actually decent

I know we've had loads of paranormal docs lately and most are absolute rubbish - recycled footage, conspiracy-adjacent nonsense, and about 40% filler. But I binged the new Skinwalker Ranch series on Netflix over the weekend and it's... actually pretty solid?

They brought in actual scientists and physicists (not UFO enthusiasts, actual academics) to investigate the Utah property. The methodology is transparent, they show the equipment, they don't hide when experiments fail. There's still the dramatic music and pacing but it's not designed to deceive you.

What got me: Episode 4 focuses on the 2004 military incident. They've got radar data, timeline documentation, and three separate accounts that don't contradict each other. That level of consistency suggests either genuine observation or extremely coordinated hoaxing, which seems unlikely for military personnel.

Not perfect - the final episode gets a bit hand-wavy with conclusions - but if you're after something that respects your intelligence while exploring genuinely weird stuff, it's worth 6 hours. Costs £5.99 for the month subscription if you don't have Netflix already.

I watched it on your recommendation and honestly? The science-focused approach is refreshing. Too many paranormal documentaries treat viewers like we're idiots. This one explains the equipment, explains why certain things are anomalous, and then says "we don't have an answer" rather than manufacturing one. That's integrity.

The military footage in episode 4 is interesting but the documentary doesn't mention that similar footage was captured in other locations around the same timeframe. It's not as unique as they make it seem. Still worth watching though.

I couldn't get past episode 2. Felt like watching people with expensive equipment find nothing and then pretend that's meaningful. The ranch probably isn't haunted or anything - it's just a ranch. Investing six hours to not reach a conclusion is just time-wasting.

The best bit was honestly the physicist explaining why certain electromagnetic readings could produce hallucinations. That's the kind of naturalistic explanation paranormal research needs more of - not dismissing experiences, but explaining them through actual physics.
