Hi everyone, brand new to Quirk Reports and absolutely buzzing about it. I'm Sarah from Bodmin, Cornwall and I've been interested in the local mystery cat for about five years now.

I've done a fair bit of walking on the moor and spoken to quite a few farmers and locals who've got stories to tell - though most won't say anything official because they're worried about being laughed at or it affecting tourism. I'm hoping to join some investigations and maybe contribute some local knowledge to the forum.

Quick question for the community: What's the general consensus on the Bodmin Beast these days? I know there was a lot of activity in the 1990s but it's gone quieter recently. Any theories on whether it's still out there or if it was just a media frenzy?

Looking forward to chatting with you all!

Welcome Sarah! You're in a great location for cryptid activity. The Bodmin Beast is definitely still discussed regularly here - opinions are split between those who think it's a genuine unknown animal and those who reckon it was misidentified wildlife or escaped exotic pets.

Your local knowledge would be incredibly valuable. If you've got any photos or witness statements you'd be comfortable sharing, the Personal Encounters forum might be a good place to start.

Brilliant to have someone local on the forums! Do you reckon the recent quietness is because the creature moved on, or because people stopped looking? I've always wondered if these animals are more elusive in winter months.

Definitely introduce yourself properly in a few threads and you'll get the hang of how we chat. Fair warning: some of us are quite skeptical but everyone's respectful. Enjoy!
