The witch trials happened, people died, and that's genuinely sad and dark. Whether their ghosts are still there bothering hikers is a separate question entirely.

People underestimate what you can do with basic tools, time, and enough manpower. Move some massive rocks? Totally doable. Align them to celestial events? That's just observation and maths.
Five quid for two hours is fair enough. I'd probably go if there was one local. At least you get genuine human interaction instead of forum drama where someone spends forty minutes crafting a...

Is the McCann commentary any good? I've noticed BBC presenters on paranormal stuff tend to go for the quirky-but-slightly-detached approach, which can feel patronizing.

Made me wonder how many paranormal forums worth of arguments could've been resolved if everyone just went to the pub with each other instead of shouting online.

Posted this on a local Facebook group but figured it might be worth sharing here too. Back in July, I was out on the Yorkshire moors near Hebden Bridge doing some landscape photography.
Been meaning to post this for weeks. Back on October 14th, I was driving back from a site visit near Brecon at about 4:15pm. The light was starting to fade, sky was mostly clear with a few clouds.
Documents declassified years later show the government knew more than they admitted. Which documents specifically? I'm genuinely asking, not being sarcastic.
This is the most British approach to paranormal investigation I've heard in ages and I love it. 'Has anyone been to a talk about ghosts in a pub?' Might actually be more productive than forum...

Pendle's one of those places where the history is so dark that you're almost required to find it haunted. Nobody goes there expecting a pleasant woodland experience.

I had something weird happen on Pendle about five years ago. Was up there in December (stupid time to hike), and I got genuinely disoriented despite good visibility.

Felt eerie, but a landscape that's been through that kind of violence is probably supposed to feel eerie. That's a thoughtful observation.

Share the photos, that's the critical thing. Footprint identification is notoriously difficult from description alone.

are we crediting the ancient Britons with actual engineering skill and astronomical knowledge, or are we saying 'aliens' every time something seems too clever for our ancestors?
The Pendle Hill episode sounds interesting. Have you read much about the historical accounts? That area's got proper history with the witch trials and various odd happenings reported over...

Covent Garden's built on old plague pits and Tudor gardens. There's layers of history under there. I've always felt off on that particular section of the line.

There's one in York I went to once. Better when the speaker actually knows what they're talking about rather than just reading Wikipedia at people for an hour.

The Venus explanation is laughable, I agree. But here's the thing - you have to consider institutional incentives.
Too-long arms, maybe? The face was obscured by a coat collarSo you couldn't actually see anything concrete that was wrong. Could've just been someone in a long coat with their head down.
