Been meaning to post this for weeks. Back on October 14th, I was driving back from a site visit near Brecon at about 4:15pm. The light was starting to fade, sky was mostly clear with a few clouds. Captured this on my dashcam while heading north on the A470.

At first I thought it was a helicopter or drone because of the way it moved - smooth, then suddenly jerked sideways. But the colour is what got me. Bright white-silver, much brighter than the sun, but I could still look at it without squinting too badly. It hovered for maybe 40 seconds then shot straight up and disappeared. The whole thing lasted about 2 minutes.

I've uploaded the footage here. Quality isn't brilliant because of the dashcam specs, but you can see the movement clearly. Would appreciate thoughts from anyone who's decent at this sort of analysis. Not claiming it's aliens or anything, just genuinely interested what others think it could be.

Right, I've watched this a few times now. The movement at 1:23 is interesting - that sideways jerk doesn't look like any conventional aircraft I know. The brightness could be a reflection off a drone's chassis, but the hover time and then rapid ascent doesn't match typical drone behaviour. That said, could also be a weather balloon catching the light at the right angle. Have you checked if there were any military exercises reported that day in Wales?

Breach Light UAV is my guess. They've got a stupid brightness when they catch the sun at certain angles, and they move exactly like that. Bloody annoying things, loads of them around Ministry of Defence testing areas. The A470 isn't far from some restricted airspace, so timeline matches up.

Not to be that person, but the video quality makes it really hard to say definitively. Could be a lens flare, could be genuine. Have you got the raw dashcam file? Sometimes these are compressed to buggery when uploaded to YouTube. Also, did you notice any humming or interference with your radio? That's often a tell.

I'm in Carmarthen and we get weird stuff over the Beacons regularly. The military base at St Athan tests all sorts. This looks like every other UAV sighting to me, but I'll admit the vertical takeoff is snappy. Definitely file a report with MUFON UK if you haven't already.

And you've already lost half the forum 😂 Joking aside, this is interesting. The way it cuts through the frame is unusual. Have you got any stills you could pull from the footage? Sometimes a freeze-frame reveals details the video doesn't.
