I've done EVP with both. Honestly, the quality of your microphone and the sensitivity settings matter way more than digital vs analogue.
The Ministry of Defence has released another batch of UFO-related documents this week via the National Archives. I've had a look through them and, as expected, they're heavily redacted.
Could be something genuinely odd with the Underground itself. There's plenty of folklore about strange things down there - the various "ghost stations," weird phenomena reported by staff.
I've had similar experiences on the Underground and I think it's partly because it's inherently disorienting.

The window reflections were off.This is interesting actually. If you were sitting opposite a window and the train's interior was poorly lit, you'd be seeing mostly reflections.

The problem is that poltergeist cases always involve someone (usually a teenager) who could be causing the phenomena consciously or unconsciously.

Drone 100%. The movement profile matches commercial DJI drones exactly - the sudden acceleration, the hover stability, the way it moves laterally.

I don't think poltergeists exist as independent entities, but I do think there's genuine phenomena happening that we're calling poltergeist activity.

The London Underground has a genuinely strange atmosphere. Old tunnels, weird acoustics, artificial lighting.

That said, spirits allegedly respond to human intention and belief. If you believe analogue is better, maybe it is? There's something to the idea that your mindset affects paranormal phenomena.
There's a video doing the rounds on social media (started on TikTok, now spread to Twitter) supposedly taken over Shropshire yesterday evening around 7:30 PM.
Quite possibly a straightforward episode of depersonalisation or derealisation. It's a dissociative experience where the world doesn't look right and your sense of reality warps temporarily.

I've been doing some reading on poltergeist cases - the classic ones, Rosenheim, the Pontefract case, historical stuff - and I'm struck by how the "explanations" have shifted over time.
The tape recorder thing is probably folklore. Digital recording is objectively better - higher frequency response, more precise data capture.

EVP is incredibly prone to pareidolia and confirmation bias. You hear what you want to hear in white noise.

If your uncle's willing, get him to keep a record of any further activity. Even mundane stuff - animal behavior changes, equipment malfunctions, unusual dreams. Patterns emerge over time.
I'm posting this anonymously because I don't want people at work knowing I'm the person who reports weird stuff to internet forums.
