TikTok "UFO" from Shropshire - is this anything or just a drone?

There's a video doing the rounds on social media (started on TikTok, now spread to Twitter) supposedly taken over Shropshire yesterday evening around 7:30 PM. It shows something with lights moving in a non-standard pattern - definitely not normal aircraft movement, if the video's genuine.

The quality's poor (obviously), and the person filming clearly doesn't know what they're looking at. But the movement pattern is interesting - hovering, sudden acceleration, then hovering again. Could be a drone. Could be edited. Could be something else.

Has anyone in the Midlands area seen anything similar recently? And does anyone here have experience analysing this kind of low-quality footage? I want to know what questions we should be asking before assuming it's genuine.

Drone 100%. The movement profile matches commercial DJI drones exactly - the sudden acceleration, the hover stability, the way it moves laterally. You can even see the light pattern which matches drone positioning lights. Video's probably 2-3 weeks old and the person just uploaded it.

The problem with TikTok UFO videos is that everyone's trying to film something interesting without knowing what they're actually filming. A drone filmed at night looks genuinely strange if you've never seen one before. Weird perspective, weird lights, weird movement. Doesn't make it alien.

You're asking the right questions but you've already listed the answer - it's definitely a drone. The movement pattern is so clearly artificial it's not even ambiguous. The stabilisation in the hover is electronic. No natural object moves like that.

I actually saw something similar over Telford about a month ago. Thought it was a UFO for about thirty seconds until I clocked it was a commercial drone someone was flying. They're getting better cameras and lighter bodies, so they're more visible at night now. Coincidence that sightings go up as drones become more common? Don't think so.

This is exactly why the genuine phenomena get buried in noise. Every drone that someone films in low light gets uploaded as "unexplained object," and then real sightings get lumped in with the drones and dismissed. We've created an impossible signal-to-noise ratio.
