Sorry but the 'friend's cousin's cleaner' chain of evidence isn't exactly airtight, is it? That's like six degrees of separation.
The arm-swing thing is interesting but not definitive. You can get weird movement from costume limitations and the camera frame rate of the era (which was lower than modern video).

National Geographic released a new analysis of the Patterson-Gimlin footage (the famous 1967 Bigfoot film from California).

I have one and I'll be honest: you're paying for the form factor and the cultural capital of using 'paranormal-specific' equipment.

how do we find real ones?Honestly, the ones worth their salt don't advertise aggressively and don't promise results.

This is actually one of the better suggestions I've seen. The 'media nonsense' frustration is valid but the spam is real.
Pendle Hill has a pretty heavy history already (witch trials and all that), so it's not exactly surprising that people report strange things there.

EVP is genuinely difficult because the signal-to-noise ratio is awful. You can convince yourself you're hearing voices in white noise if you expect to hear them.

The Channel 4 show was useful for exposing charlatans, but it's also a bit reductive. Real mediumship is subtle and hard to demonstrate on camera.

I'm in Burnley so I could make Pendle Hill. Would be keen to join if you're organising something. Haven't seen anything myself but I've heard the stories.

The Yorkshire Post ran a small article about the sighting on Pendle Hill last month. Some tourists reported seeing something large and bipedal crossing the moorland around dusk.
The Borley documentary was decent, but it was quite focused on debunking everything. Fair enough, a lot of the original accounts were dubious, but they went too far the other way saying none of it...

I visited last summer and felt absolutely nothing except tired. But then I'm a total skeptic so I probably wouldn't notice if a ghost tapped me on the shoulder.
I've been looking at the Seeking Spirit SLS camera (think it's rebranded from a military thermal unit, but it's marketed specifically for paranormal investigation).
my mobile phone kept losing signal even though I was nowhere near dead zonesMobile signal in forests is dodgy anyway. Trees absorb radio waves. Not paranormal, just physics.

As a mod, we've been discussing something similar. The problem is enforcement without looking like we're censoring discussion. We'll look into a dedicated forum section though. Good feedback.

There was a documentary on ITV last Tuesday about Borley Rectory (the most haunted house in England, apparently).

I actually like the separate threads because sometimes you want to discuss the specific subject (e.g., Bodmin Panther) rather than 'media bad.' But I take the point about duplication.
I've been to Rendlesham a few times for research. Didn't experience anything unusual, but the forest does have a strange atmosphere - though that could be psychological knowing the history.

Has anyone watched the new Channel 4 series? It's basically catching fake psychics and mediums on hidden camera. Some of it's quite brutal - loads of cold reading, hot reading, obvious tricks.
