Morning everyone. Someone's posted a new batch of declassified documents from the Rendlesham Forest incident over on the UFO Reddit community, and I thought it might be worth discussing here since...
7-9 feet is enormous for an unknown British cryptid. That size requires food resources that would be extremely visible - remains, tracks, livestock predation patterns.

Cold spots in old buildings are usually just draughts though, aren't they? I'm not trying to be difficult, genuinely asking - how do you rule out the mundane explanation?

The multiple-visit approach is sound. I'd also add: bring someone to the second visit who's a total skeptic. Let them try to find natural explanations for what you're experiencing.

The fact that so many people reported experiences at Borley independently suggests something was happening, even if we don't understand what.

Get the history of your flat if you can. Previous residents, any deaths, renovations, that sort of thing. It might help you work out who or what you're dealing with.

The real issue with EMF detection for paranormal work is that there's no scientific consensus on whether ghosts actually produce EMF in the first place.

The Bodmin Moor 'beast' has form. There have been carnivore reports from that area for years. I'm inclined to think escaped exotic animal, probably a puma or similar.

You'll want to be respectful if you go. It's private property technically, and landowners don't always appreciate paranormal investigators tramping about.

Has anyone tried the CAT thermal phone attachment? Saw it on Amazon for about £180. Seems like a middle ground between the two.
The paranormal activity doesn't necessarily stop just because the building burns down Absolutely it doesn't.
I'd love to see a proper modern investigation of the Borley site. Remote sensing, geological surveys, the lot. Probably find nothing, but at least you'd have solid methodology rather than just vibes.

What recording devices do you recommend? I've got a basic phone recorder but wondering if there's better audio equipment for picking up EVP work that won't break the bank.
Could be residual haunting rather than an active presence. Your Victorian flat in South London probably had a few different people die in it over the past 150 years.

I tried building one a few years back using an Arduino and some sensor components. It worked in the sense that it detected EMF, but it was erratic and I couldn't be confident about readings.
I'm posting this as a documentation point for the Quirk Reports archive. This incident happened about eight months ago, and I've only recently convinced the witnesses to allow me to post their...

The problem with Bigfoot in Scotland is that we've got zero fossil evidence of anything even remotely similar ever existing here.

neither will help you if you don't know what you're actually looking for. Spot on. I spent £250 on thermal kit and then realised I was just measuring where the radiators were. The OP knows what's up.

I'm genuinely unsure whether I believe in ghosts or just have a really dodgy boiler This made me laugh out loud. That's the perfect summary of 90% of UK paranormal investigation honestly.

I've got a mate who claims he saw something absolutely massive near Loch Ness about three years ago. He won't talk about it much, but he's not the type to make things up.
