I think the Berenstein/Berenstain thing is actually a great example of how the internet amplifies and reinforces false memories.
Right, I've been reading Quirk Reports for about three years without actually posting anything, but I figured it was time to properly join the community.
I did some analysis and the spatial relationship between the object and the camera is genuinely ambiguous from that footage. Could be near and small, could be far and large.

Can someone actually defend Borley as credible evidence? No. Nobody who actually knows the history well can defend it as a gold standard. We've moved on to better cases.

It lasted maybe 30 seconds, though it felt like hours. This detail is really important. Sleep paralysis always FEELS longer than it actually is.
The Gimbal footage is textbook "parallax effect and camera rotation creating visual illusion of motion." It's not mysterious, it's just not obvious why without understanding video processing.

Bodmin's notorious. There was a wave of sightings there in the '70s and again in the early 2000s. Local papers won't touch it anymore but the stories are out there. You're not alone in this.
My mate Dave reckons it's because we're closer to the sun during the solstices or something, but that doesn't make sense because it's the OPPOSITE time of year.Actually Dave's half right but...

Been reading up on Stonehenge and the summer solstice alignments, and I keep coming back to the same question: why would ancient peoples be so obsessed with marking the exact moment of solar...
The best defense of Borley is that multiple independent witnesses reported strange things before Price arrived. That's something.
The problem is people confuse "unexplained" with "paranormal." There's a massive gap between those two things. I'm happy to discuss both, but let's be honest about which is which.

Borley is defended by believers because it's famous, not because it's actually good evidence. That's the honest answer. The contemporary accounts are genuinely odd, but odd ≠ paranormal.

Haworth moors are absolutely known for this. There's been reports of something large moving through there since the 1980s at least.

Alternatively: you experienced a fugue state or temporal lapse. Your conscious memory created a 'person' to fill in the missing information. The brain does this - it's called confabulation.

Right, so the Pentagon released that Gimbal video in 2015 and everyone either thinks it's definitely aliens or definitely a camera artefact, and nobody seems willing to actually sit down and do...
Everyone's obsessed with the big spectacular cryptids, but what about smaller anomalies? Fish that don't match any catalogued species? Unusual migration patterns?

Did anyone consider that there might be MULTIPLE explanations operating at once? Some sightings could be misidentified animals, some could be hoaxes, and some could be actual unknown species.

how would you actually distinguish that from mass false memory? Exactly. You can't. That's why simulation theory is unfalsifiable and therefore not useful as a scientific hypothesis.
Has anyone actually tried to capture footage or specimens? This is the kind of thing that could be solved with proper organisation and patience. Unlike Nessie, wallabies can't hide forever.
Could be selection bias mate. In summer you've got dog walkers, families out until 10pm, loads of witnesses about.
