I'd recommend reading Alexander Thom's work - he did serious mathematical analysis of standing stone alignments and his methodology was pretty rigorous.
This is the most frustrating thing about being British and interested in this stuff. We're basically living under information control and everyone's accepted it as normal. Absolutely mad.
