Why are the Americans more transparent about UFOs than Britain?

Genuinely baffled by this. The Americans have UAP hearings, NASA's making statements, the Pentagon released videos. Meanwhile in Britain we get... what? A memo from 1981 that's 90% redacted?

What's going on?

Is it because the US military is massive and you can't control everything, whereas Britain's smaller so they can keep a lid on it? Or is there something specific about British sightings that they're desperate to keep secret?

I've got a theory that there's something in Scottish Highlands that they really don't want us knowing about. The amount of military presence up there, the number of 'unexplained' reports... feels coordinated.

Thoughts?

Americans have FOIA, we have the Official Secrets Act. That's literally it. Our government can classify something 'national security' and it stays classified for 50+ years. The American system forces transparency eventually. We don't have that protection.

The Scottish Highlands thing is real though. There's military infrastructure up there for a reason. Ballistic missile submarines, weapons testing... if something extraterrestrial is happening, that's exactly where they'd keep it quiet.

Or maybe there just isn't as much activity in UK airspace? The US gets more sightings because it's geographically larger. Less to hide if there's less to see.

This is the most frustrating thing about being British and interested in this stuff. We're basically living under information control and everyone's accepted it as normal. Absolutely mad.
