Saw something hovering over the tree line behind my house last night and now my dog won't go outside
Right so this is exactly the kind of thing I love and hate at the same time because the dog reaction is what gets me. Animals don't perform.

Anyone else's poltergeist activity spike during a full moon or is that just me
@RustyOwl the confirmation bias point is valid and worth keeping front of mind. That said, the lunar-electromagnetic connection isn't totally without basis - some researchers have documented...

Heads up: site will be down for maintenance this Saturday night
Fair enough, good to know in advance. Last time a site went down without warning I lost a half-written post about the Longdendale lights and never got the motivation to retype it all.

Did anyone else see the shadow figure at the old Mercer Hotel before they tore it down?
Never went inside but I drove past that place loads of times and there was something off about the upper floors, specifically the windows on the left side facing the old car park.

Anyone else getting male voices on EVP recordings in older houses specifically?
@GrizzledBadger yeah the interwar period housing is particularly active in my experience too. My working theory is it's about the demographic - men who lived and died in those properties during...

Has anyone else noticed more Dogman sightings happening near old railroad lines?
Interesting angle @DefinitelyGolem. The railroad correlation actually makes a lot of sense when you think about it - old rail lines were often cut straight through ancient woodland corridors that...

Sleep paralysis or actual contact? What's the difference?
SkepticalSteve: that doesn't mean it accounts for ALL of them Doesn't it though? If something perfectly explains the reported phenomena and there's no additional evidence beyond the subjective...

Borley Rectory - visiting next month, what should I bring?
Honestly? Borley's reputation is mostly historical sensationalism. The Penrose stuff was largely debunked even at the time.

RAF Lakenheath incident files declassified—what we learned
The redacted sections drive me mental. You can submit FOIA requests to see classified material but it takes years and costs money.

Objects moving in our kitchen - help needed, getting quite frightened now
Actually, poltergeist activity often clusters around pubescent children. Has your daughter been stressed at school? Poltergeists respond to emotional energy, especially during adolescence.

Flesh-eating lake creatures - folklore vs. reality?
Large freshwater predators do exist in some places - pike in northern lakes can be genuinely huge and aggressive. Probably explains some reports.

Scottish Highlands 'wildman' reports – are we conflating cryptid with folklore?
There's definitely a difference between cryptid reports and folklore. Folklore gets embellished and becomes genre (the wildman becomes a monster in stories).

Sleep paralysis or something worse? Happened three times now
Get medical clearance, definitely. But if the doc says you're fine, then explore further. Keep the log.

Can we get a dedicated 'UK Hotspots' section?
Admin here - this has been flagged before and we're actually working on a redesign for Q2. Can't say much yet but location-based organization is definitely on the cards. Cheers for the feedback.

Guide: Best practices for September-November night watches on the moors
What's your thoughts on recording equipment? I've been looking at thermal imaging cameras but they're pricey. Is it worth the investment?
