Just got an email from the National Archives this morning - they've released the latest batch of MoD UFO files publicly. Over 2,100 documents, mostly from the 1990s-2000s.

Why do paranormal investigators always have terrible equipment?
It's partly genuine lack of funding, but also partly cargo cult thinking. People see the 'classics' use rubbish kit and think that's what you're supposed to do.

One thing that strikes me reading these documents is how formal and careful the language is. These aren't crackpots filing reports, these are trained military observers using proper terminology...
