I'm sorry that happened to you both. That level of missing time would shake anyone. Have you experienced anything unusual since? Secondary effects can appear months or even years afterwards.
I've done EVP sessions where I've got recordings that actually make the hairs on my neck stand up. Crystal clear voice on a completely silent recording. So I don't think it's ALL pareidolia.
