I'd love to know which specific section this was. The older tunnels under King's Cross are supposedly extensive - some connected to historical stations that don't exist anymore.
Bodmin's notorious. There was a wave of sightings there in the '70s and again in the early 2000s. Local papers won't touch it anymore but the stories are out there. You're not alone in this.
Bog preservation is excellent for maintaining impression detail, which is good for your hypothesis. But it's also excellent at distorting prints through water movement and settling.
