I'm not usually one to post about personal experiences publicly - feels mad, doesn't it? - but I genuinely need to talk this through because I'm still a bit unsettled and none of my mates will take it seriously.
Three nights ago, maybe 2:30 in the morning, I woke up suddenly. Completely alert, not groggily - that instant awake feeling. My flat's small, South Manchester, nothing fancy, but the light from the street lamp comes through the window so I can usually see the basic shape of things. I opened my eyes and there was something at the foot of my bed. Not a person shape exactly - more like a dense patch of darkness, slightly textured, vaguely person-sized. I could make out... I don't know, shoulders maybe? A suggestion of form.
I couldn't move. Not sleep paralysis - I understand sleep paralysis, I've had it before - but I was genuinely frozen. Not frightened, which is odd. More like... observed. Like it was watching me and I knew if I moved it would react. After maybe thirty seconds - could've been three seconds, time got weird - the shape just sort of dissolved. Not dramatically. Like it was never quite there in the first place.
I got up immediately, put all the lights on, checked the flat. Doors locked, windows secure, nothing out of place. Couldn't sleep the rest of the night. Haven't been able to shake the feeling since.
