Witnessed something odd on the Northern Line last Tuesday—am I losing it?

Right, so I'm commuting home from work around 6:45pm on Tuesday evening, packed tube car at King's Cross, and I notice this bloke in a grey coat who's absolutely still. Like, unnaturally still. Not swaying with the train, not holding the rail, just... stood there. I'm thinking fair play, good balance mate.

Then we get to Embankment and everyone shuffles out, and I watch him in the corner of my eye. He doesn't move. The doors close. He's still there, hasn't budged an inch. I look back as the train pulls away and he's staring right at me through the window - except his eyes are completely black. No iris, no white, just black.

Told my mate down the pub and he said I've been watching too much Quirk Reports. But I'm fairly certain I didn't imagine it? Anyone else had weird experiences on the Underground?

Mate, London Underground after 6pm is basically a gateway between worlds. I'm not even joking. The light down there does something to people's perceptions. Could've been a trick of the fluorescent lights mixed with exhaustion - your eyes play tricks after a long day.

Right, but did anyone else see him? That's the litmus test innit. Get corroboration and you've got something. Get nothing and you've got a tired commuter and inconsistent lighting. Which one sounds more likely?

Contact lenses, mate. Scleral contacts. They're mad expensive but some people get full black ones as a fashion thing. Saw someone wearing them at a festival last summer and nearly had a heart attack. Could be your explanation.

This is actually fascinating because the London Underground has SO much documented paranormal activity. The Jubilee Line extension was built over plague pits. King's Cross itself was a major Victorian slum. Your bloke could be a residual haunting or an entity attracted to liminal spaces. Has anyone done a proper study of the Circle Line?

You weren't losing it. You saw something. Whether it was paranormal or mundane, you experienced something your rational mind couldn't immediately categorise, which is why you're here asking. Trust your instincts. Next time, take a photo.

@AlekseiPhantom is right that the Underground is basically a haunted object the size of a city - Victorian-era tunnels built over plague pits, that's just a possessed building with a travel card.
