Witnessed something odd near London Underground after hours—possible paranormal?

This happened around 1 AM on 29 October (yes, Halloween weekend, I know how it sounds) at King's Cross station. I was working late and took the night tube - usual Tuesday night, fairly empty, some tired commuters.

Between King's Cross and Russell Square, the entire carriage flickered. Lights off for maybe 3-4 seconds, not a normal flicker but a complete blackout. When the lights came back, everyone was silent for a moment. Then the woman next to me said, very calmly, 'Did anyone else see the figure?' And maybe half the carriage nodded.

I didn't see anything specific, just felt a presence. But other passengers were describing a tall, translucent person-shaped thing standing where there definitely wasn't a person before the lights went out. It was gone when the lights came back on. One bloke was genuinely shaken. Another said it looked like it was 'moving through' the carriage rather than standing in it.

I've checked with TfL - they say there was a 'momentary electrical fluctuation' logged on that line at 0057 hours. No incident report otherwise. Has anyone experienced anything similar on the Underground? I know this sounds like I've lost the plot, but it genuinely happened and I'm not the only one who noticed something.

This is fascinating. London Underground has a genuinely eerie atmosphere and there are reports of paranormal activity going back decades. The Holborn ghost, the St James Park station entity, etc. The electrical fluctuation is interesting - some theories suggest paranormal phenomena can cause EM disruptions. Worth reporting to paranormal investigation groups if you haven't already. Would they have CCTV footage?

Could be a few things: (1) shared hallucination triggered by low-frequency electromagnetic interference, (2) actual paranormal phenomenon, (3) someone in the carriage with the ability to project an image, (4) completely mundane explanation we're not thinking of. The fact that multiple people reported it makes it more interesting than a solo experience, but also harder to rule out psychological factors.

This is actually pretty common in paranormal reports, especially when EMF is involved. The presence feeling doesn't require a visual component. Whether that's psychological response to EM fluctuation or actual spirit presence is the eternal question. Have you been back to that line since?

King's Cross is built on some genuinely old ground. Victorian era infrastructure, medieval street plans underneath, all sorts of history. The station itself has seen deaths - accidents, suicides, probably violence over the centuries. It's entirely plausible that something is lurking in the infrastructure. The Underground is basically a haunted maze, honestly.

I've commuted on that line for five years and never experienced anything, but I'm intrigued. Did anyone in the carriage exchange contacts? Seems like this would be worth coordinating a proper investigation with witnesses present.

This is a genuinely solid report. The multiple witness angle makes it credible. Most people won't admit to seeing something paranormal, so if half the carriage independently described something, that's meaningful data. I'd suggest posting this to the London Paranormal Society - they track Underground activity quite seriously.
