Why does the Ministry of Defence suddenly restrict Rendlesham Forest access during autumn equinox?

I've been tracking public access restrictions to Rendlesham Forest for the past 18 months and there's a pattern I can't ignore: every year, access gets restricted or more heavily monitored during the autumn equinox period (roughly September 20-October 5). The restrictions usually ease up after about two weeks.

The official story is always maintenance work or safety concerns, but these 'maintenance' periods are incredibly consistent timing-wise. Too consistent to be coincidence. I've also noticed an increase in RAF helicopter activity over the forest during these periods - I've got photos from local spotters.

Here's the question: is the MOD aware of something happening at that location during the equinox? Are they actively suppressing documentation or investigation of phenomena? Why would routine maintenance happen at exactly the same time every year?

Brilliant observation about the timing. Equinoxes are when a lot of unexplained phenomena supposedly spike. If the MOD knows something about Rendlesham being a genuine hotspot for unusual activity, they'd absolutely control access during peak times. Can't have civilians getting footage if something's about to manifest.

Have you got specific dates documented for each year? Because if you've actually got a pattern of five+ years of data showing the same dates, that's genuinely compelling. But anecdotal evidence of vague 'restrictions' isn't really proof of anything specific.

The MOD restrict forest access for completely mundane reasons all the time - ammunition disposal, infrastructure maintenance, training exercises. It's not sinister, it's just what they do. That it happens during autumn could just be when they do scheduled maintenance. But I'd be interested to see your documentation of the timing pattern.

If they were genuinely suppressing paranormal investigation they'd do it quietly, not restrict access to an entire forest. More likely scenario: nothing unusual is actually happening and it's routine maintenance that happens to line up. But if you've got evidence of a genuine pattern, that's worth pursuing properly through FOIA requests.

Have you filed a Freedom of Information request asking why access is restricted during those specific periods? The MOD technically has to provide justification. If they're blocking information, that alone would be interesting. Even if the restrictions are legit, you'd get the official reason on record.

The helicopter activity is worth investigating separately from the access restrictions. Military helicopters operating in rural areas happen constantly, but if you've specifically documented increased activity during equinoxes, that's data worth collating. Might be training exercises but might be surveillance of something.
