When you explain the Skinwalker Ranch to someone and they think you mean a walking skin condition

Tried to bring up Skinwalker Ranch at work the other day and my colleague Michelle thought I was describing some kind of bizarre dermatological condition. Spent a solid five minutes explaining that no, there isn't a sentient sheet of skin wandering round Utah, it's a paranormal phenomenon.

This is my life now. This is what the paranormal community has done to me.

To be fair, 'Skinwalker' is a properly poor name if you want people to take you seriously. Imagine trying to get funding: 'Yes, I'd like a grant to investigate the Skinwalker phenomenon.' Investors: 'Lovely, psoriasis research, very cutting edge.'

My mum thinks all UFOs are just military drones and won't listen to anything else. At least your colleague was open to being corrected. Count your blessings mate.

This is brilliant. I'm going to deliberately misunderstand Skinwalker Ranch from now on. 'Oh yeah, the walking skin, fascinating stuff, apparently it was spotted near a ranch...'
