Right, proper question for a Friday evening: what aspect of the paranormal actually frightens you? Not in a "that's an interesting problem to solve" way, but in a genuine "I don't sleep well thinking about this" way.
For me, it's the simulation theory stuff. Not the Matrix-level "we're all holograms" thing, but the smaller glitches. The mandela effects, the Berenstein/Berenstain thing, people reporting the same false memories. The idea that reality is slightly off somehow genuinely unsettles me in a way that traditional ghosts don't. At least ghosts follow rules - simulation glitches suggest the rules themselves might be negotiable.
I can handle reports of hauntings, cryptids, government cover-ups. Those all have internal logic. But the idea that I'm misremembering something I'm certain about? That there's something fundamentally wrong with how I'm experiencing the world? That's what keeps me up.
