Right, so I've become a bit obsessed with the possibility of unidentified large primates in the British wilderness, and I've realised there's actually a fair amount of anecdotal evidence scattered across various forums and historical records, but nothing properly collated.

I'm in the process of creating a detailed database of UK Bigfoot/Sasquatch-adjacent sightings, with location mapping, witness testimony analysis, and temporal clustering. The idea is to see if there are hotspots or patterns that might suggest genuine unknown fauna rather than just misidentifications.

If you've got a sighting to report, or you know of historical cases worth documenting, please share. Ideally with: location (as specific as possible), date/time, description, witnesses, and any evidence (photos, tracks, etc.). Even 'mundane' sightings are useful for baseline data.

I know some of you are skeptical of the whole concept, which is fair, but I reckon if we're going to have this conversation, we might as well do it properly rather than just swapping anecdotes down the pub.

This is a brilliant idea. Whether or not there's anything to the UK Bigfoot hypothesis, proper data collection is how you'd either prove it or disprove it. I've got a few reports I can contribute - sightings from friends of friends mostly, but I can dig up dates and locations. Will send you a message with details.

I've got a sighting from 2019 in the Peak District if you want it. Happened to me and a mate on a hiking trip. We weren't going to tell anyone because we knew how it sounded, but if it's going into an actual dataset, it seems worth documenting.

The North York Moors has had some interesting reports over the years. I remember reading about something in a local newspaper from the 1980s. Not sure I could find the exact clipping now, but I can try to track down dates and details if it helps. Worth looking into historical local press for this kind of thing.

This is the right approach. Proper methodology doesn't require believing in the subject matter - it just requires rigor. I'm skeptical of UK Bigfoot, but I'd be interested in seeing what patterns emerge from actual data analysis.

Have you looked into the Scottish Cryptid Database? They've got quite a bit of historical material that might be relevant. Also, the Fortean Times archives probably have mentions of unusual primate sightings. Could be useful sources for your compilation.

The hardest part of this project will be separating genuine anomalies from misidentifications, folklore, and hoaxes. Solid methodology on that front will be crucial if you want the database to be taken seriously. Might be worth collaborating with someone who has statistical analysis background?
