Two minutes of missing time on the Metropolitan Line - not sure how to explain it

This happened last Tuesday evening (5th November, about 7:45 PM on the District Line heading toward Embankment - I was on my way home from work). I need to write this down because I keep second-guessing whether it was real.

Got on at South Ealing. I remember sitting down, putting my headphones on, checking my phone for the time. 7:47 PM. The carriage wasn't busy, maybe five other people. I was reading work emails (riveting stuff about printer maintenance).

Next thing I'm aware of: Embankment. Doors opening. My phone says 7:49 PM. Two minutes, completely blank. Not like I dozed off - it was instantaneous from my perspective. I didn't feel tired, my headphones were still playing the same song.

Here's what's bothering me: I've done this commute hundreds of times. I know how long it takes between South Ealing and Embankment. It's never been two minutes. It's always at least 8-10 depending on stops. And I don't remember any stops happening.

Checked the Tube map - there's no direct route that would be that quick. Got off and checked the time twice to make sure my phone wasn't glitching.

I'm not claiming anything paranormal - just... confused. Anyone else experienced weird time stuff on public transport?

Classic missing time experience actually. The Underground gets reported for this more than people realise. Could be dissociation, could be something else. How do you feel physically? Any odd sensations, nosebleeds, unusual marks on your body?

South Ealing to Embankment via the District Line takes about 20 minutes minimum with standard stops. You're right that something's off, but missing time is usually explained by: 1) Phone glitch, 2) Dozed off without realizing, 3) Time perception distortion. All more likely than paranormal explanations.

Mate, if you check the TfL website it shows real-time journey info. Could actually verify whether the train even stopped at those intermediate stations. Might give you actual data instead of relying on memory and phone timestamps. Could be the train was express that day for some reason?

That's what sleep feels like though. You don't experience the time passing. Not saying you were asleep, but that's not really evidence that you weren't. Missing time reports are common but usually have boring explanations.

Very interesting. The District Line has a lot of paranormal reports actually - Aldwych station especially, but various incidents across the whole line. London Underground is built on ancient sites, Roman ruins, mass graves. Something about it attracts odd phenomena. Not saying that's what happened to you, but you're not alone in reporting weird experiences down there.
