That ITV prime time special - am I the only one who found it condescending?

Okay so ITV did this "investigation" show last Saturday night at 9pm, right? Billed as serious UFO inquiry but it was basically just laughing at people. They'd interview someone about their genuine encounter and then cut to some "expert debunker" (who looked about 14) smugly explaining why it was obviously a weather balloon or swamp gas or whatever.

What really got my goat was the framing. Every abductee they featured was filmed in their house looking slightly nervous or emotional, then the presenter would pull some sceptical face and we'd move on. No respect whatsoever. These are people who've experienced something traumatic.

I wrote to ITV but I expect they'll ignore it. Does anyone else feel like mainstream media just isn't interested in genuine inquiry anymore? It's all clickbait and ridicule.

Completely agree. They interviewed Dave from Manchester about his encounter in the '90s and made him look like a nutter despite the fact he'd got corroborating witness statements. The editing was obviously designed to make him seem unreliable.

ITV's ratings are in the toilet so they go for sensationalism. Proper documentaries are all on streaming services now or smaller channels.

To be fair though, TV is entertainment. If they did a straight documentary without any sceptical voices it would just be preaching to the converted. The problem is finding the balance, which basically no mainstream channel manages.

Those debunkers are the worst part of modern telly. They're not actually scientists, they're hired to provide "balance" which really means "laugh at the weirdos." I'd rather watch nothing than watch that rubbish.

Did anyone actually fact-check the debunker's claims though? Half the time those smug types are full of nonsense themselves. Just because someone's dismissive doesn't make them right.
