Been thinking about heading up to Stonehenge for the summer solstice this year (around 20-21 June). I've heard stories about paranormal activity being particularly strong during the solstices because of the astronomical alignment and all that. I'm curious whether people have genuine experiences there or if it's mostly just crowds and hype.

Has anyone on here done a proper vigil at Stonehenge? I'm talking staying through the night, not just the daytime tourist thing. What was it like? Any actual phenomena or just the vibe of the place?

I'm planning to take a small group (maybe 5-6 of us), bring proper kit (EMF metres, thermal cameras, voice recorders, the lot), and document everything. Should be interesting either way. Genuinely looking for info from people with experience there rather than online rumours.

The solstice is absolutely mental at Stonehenge. You'll have thousands of people there for the sunrise - it becomes more of a festival than a spiritual event. For proper paranormal investigation, you'd be better off going midweek in June and avoiding the actual solstice dates. Less foot traffic, better readings.

I went during summer solstice 2018. Saw nothing unusual, but the atmosphere was electric - literally got goosebumps that wouldn't stop. Several people in our group reported feeling watched. One woman fainted around 3am and had to be taken to the medical tent. When she came to, she couldn't remember anything from the previous two hours. Might've been dehydration, but it was odd.

Make sure you've got proper permissions if you're planning to conduct any kind of investigation. English Heritage have strict rules about what you can and can't do on the stones. You'll likely be restricted to the outer circle area, which limits investigation scope. Worth checking their guidelines before you go.

The ley lines converging at Stonehenge are supposedly incredibly strong. Some researchers reckon the solstices amplify whatever supernatural energy is dormant there the rest of the year. I'd be interested in your EMF readings. Have you done baseline measurements at other ancient sites for comparison?

Honestly, between you and me, most of the "paranormal" stuff at Stonehenge is probably people's expectations playing tricks on them. That said, the place is genuinely eerie. The sound design alone - how the stones echo and distort noise in specific ways - could explain a lot of the reports. But that's not paranormal, it's just really good architecture.

Don't bother with the solstice crowds. Go on a quiet night in early June when the sun barely sets. You'll get the atmospheric conditions without the 15,000 druids and festival-goers. Better for investigation, better for your sanity.
