I was up in the Highlands at my uncle's cottage near Inverness last week for a week. Friday evening (18th October), I was outside having a smoke around 9pm when I saw these absolutely extraordinary lights over the loch. Not one light - multiple lights, moving in formation, then breaking apart, then reforming. The display lasted about 12 minutes.

My uncle came out, saw it too. We both just stood there completely silent. I've never seen anything like it. The lights were bright white-blue, completely silent, and they moved in ways that no aircraft I know of could move. The changes in direction were instantaneous.

I tried to film it but my mobile wouldn't work properly - kept cutting out, which is bizarre because the signal was fine earlier. My uncle's torch also went dead right when they appeared and came back on when they left.

Has anyone else reported lights in that area? I'm genuinely curious if this is a known hotspot.

The Highlands have quite a bit of UFO activity reported over the years. Rendlesham Forest gets all the attention but there's definitely things happening up in Scotland too. The fact that your electronics malfunctioned is interesting - that's a common pattern with genuine sightings.

Could you get any more details? How high were they? What size? Were they making any sound at all? The fact that your uncle witnessed it too is significant - rules out personal hallucination at least.

Military exercises probably. RAF bases aren't far from Loch Ness area. They test jets and drones all the time. The electronic interference could've been from the military equipment itself. Happens more often than you'd think.

Check if anyone else reported it that night. UFO database sites have sightings searchable by location and date. If this was genuine, there's likely other reports from the area that same night. Would be interesting to cross-reference.

The Loch Ness area has had paranormal reports for centuries. Not just the monster - lights, strange phenomena. Your sighting fits the historical pattern. I'd say document it properly and report it to official UFO databases.
