Posting on behalf of a friend who's not on here but wants the incident documented. He asked me to gather witness accounts and post them.

Date: 14th January 2024, approximately 9:15 PM
Location: Near Holmfirth, West Yorkshire
Duration: Roughly 4-5 minutes
Visibility: Clear night, moderate starlight

My friend and his family were returning from a pub in town when they noticed three lights in a triangular formation moving silently across the sky. They describe the lights as pale blue-white, steady (not flickering), and moving in a deliberate pattern - not aircraft navigation lights. They watched it travel from south-southwest to north-northeast at what seemed like variable speed. His brother filmed about 45 seconds on his mobile, though apparently the video doesn't capture the brightness as well as seeing it in person did.

No sound whatsoever, which is apparently unusual for the area given there's a flight path nearby. Disappeared behind cloud cover. My friend's wondering if anyone else in Yorkshire saw this and whether there's an explanation. Not claiming it's alien - just unexplained.

Would love to see that mobile footage if your mate's willing to share it. Upload it to the Quirk Reports video archive and someone'll probably identify it within a day. Lots of aviation experts on here who can spot aircraft patterns immediately.

Triangular formation of lights is one of the most common UAP reports, especially in populated areas. Could be conventional aircraft in formation, could be drones (increasingly common), could be something else. The silence is the interesting detail - modern aircraft are rarely silent unless they're significantly higher than visual observation suggests.

There were actually several reports from across Yorkshire that night. I'm in Leeds and saw something similar around the same time, though I was driving so couldn't observe it properly. Might be worth cross-referencing dates and times on the UK UFO database.

Were there any odd electromagnetic effects? Radio interference on the car, mobile glitching, that sort of thing? Some UAP reports include EM disturbances. Also: any unusual smells? Some phenomena reports mention unusual odours - ozone, sulphur, etc.

Could be the International Space Station transiting, honestly. ISS passes can look eerie if you're not expecting them - bright, silent, moving across the sky in surprising ways. Not everything over Yorkshire is a UFO!

Post the video footage. Without visual evidence, this is just an anecdote, no matter how credible your friend sounds. I'm not saying he's unreliable - but documentation is everything in this field.
