This happened about a week ago and I've been unsure whether to post it, but here we are.

My mate Dave and I were driving back from a pub in Bodmin around 23:30 on a Thursday night (the 8th). Proper dark, no other cars on the road. As we came round a bend near the old stone circle area, Dave said "what the hell is that?" and pointed to the left side of the road.

There was a figure standing in the field. It was tall - much taller than a person should be. Like, 8 feet maybe? It didn't move at first, just stood there. Dave slowed down and the thing turned its head toward us. That's when it got weird - it moved across the field at a speed that shouldn't have been possible. Not running, just... gliding? And it disappeared behind a stone wall.

We didn't stop. I know that makes it sound made up, but we were genuinely spooked. We checked the road a minute later and there was nothing. No figure, no explanation. Dave's still shaken about it. I'm not claiming it's a cryptid or anything mad, but I can't explain what we saw. Has anyone experienced anything similar in that area?

Bodmin Moor's got a proper reputation for this sort of thing. There are old stories about tall figures and weird creatures around there going back centuries. Not trying to wind you up, but did you notice anything else? Unusual smells, electronics playing up, that sort of thing?

Could've been shadows from your headlights playing tricks? I'm not being dismissive, I just want to explore the possibilities. Adrenaline can make your brain do weird things with perception too. But I'm curious - did Dave see it exactly as you did, or did he describe it differently?

This is brilliant. Have you tried going back during the day to check the location? Sometimes you can spot things that'll explain what you saw - tall trees, poles, whatever. Not saying that's what it was, just good practice.

The Bodmin Beast has been a thing since at least the 1980s. There's a whole folklore around it. Your encounter sounds genuinely unsettling. You should report it properly - there's a crypto database you can submit to. More data helps identify patterns.

Mate, I live not far from there and I've heard similar stories from locals. Nobody talks about it much but it's definitely something people have experienced. Where exactly near the stone circle? Which one?
