This happened to me about three weeks ago and I've been going back and forth about whether to post it, but here goes. I was waiting on the northbound platform at Covent Garden around 11:15pm on a Thursday night (31st Oct, actually). The platform was fairly busy - maybe 20-30 people - and we were all waiting for the next Northern Line train.

About five minutes into the wait, I noticed the air temperature dropped quite noticeably. Like, sudden goosebumps kind of drop. I looked around and a couple of other people were rubbing their arms like they felt it too. Then I heard what I can only describe as a whisper - not coming from any particular direction, just... present. It lasted maybe two seconds and I couldn't make out words, just a sort of sibilant sound.

The temperature went back to normal pretty much immediately. The train arrived maybe 30 seconds later and everyone boarded normally. Nobody said anything. I got home and felt properly unsettled for hours afterwards.

I know how this sounds. I've never experienced anything paranormal before and I'm not typically prone to anxiety or imagination. Just looking for rational explanations or similar experiences?

The Underground is genuinely interesting for paranormal reports - there's documented history of unusual experiences in various stations. Covent Garden specifically has some older stories attached to it from Victorian era construction work. That said, underground stations have acoustic properties that can create weird sounds, and temperature fluctuations aren't uncommon due to ventilation systems and train movements. The psychological element matters too - being on a platform at night creates expectancy.

temperature dropped quite noticeably

Train approaching from distance can actually cause air movement and temperature changes as it displaces air in the tunnel. Combined with acoustic weirdness and late-night platform psychology, you might have a mundane explanation. That said, it doesn't invalidate what you experienced - it was real to you regardless of cause.

Covent Garden has proper paranormal history - look up the reports from the 1980s and 90s. Not saying that means your experience was supernatural, but you're not crazy for picking up on something. The Underground is full of reported activity. If it happens again, try recording audio and noting exact times/conditions - that builds useful data.

Did you feel any electromagnetic activity? EMF meters can be useful tools in the Underground since there's so much electrical infrastructure. Could be that plus suggestion plus late-night psychology creating the experience. Or something more unusual. Keeping a record either way is good practice.

Honestly, being on the Underground at night does weird things to perception. I've had similar experiences - that uncanny feeling. Doesn't necessarily mean paranormal activity, just means you're human and your brain responds to unusual environments. The whisper could've been actual conversation from further down the platform, sound distortion is weird underground.
