Right, I've been a lurker for ages but I need to get this down somewhere before I convince myself I imagined it. Last Saturday (15th Nov) me and my girlfriend were walking near Pendle Hill in Lancashire around 4pm. It was already getting dark, bit misty, proper atmospheric.

We heard this sound - honestly like nothing I can describe properly. Not quite a howl, not quite a scream. My girlfriend grabbed my arm and we both just stood there. Then we saw it move through the trees about 50 metres ahead. Bipedal, definitely. Taller than a man, broad shoulders, moved wrong somehow. Not like a bear or deer, which was my first thought. The way it moved was fluid but also jerky if that makes sense?

We did the sensible thing and walked quickly in the opposite direction. Got back to the car in about 10 minutes but I swear it followed us through the treeline. No jokes, I've checked Borley Rectory reports and local folklore but nothing quite matches. Has anyone else had encounters in the Pendle area?

Mate, Pendle has serious history. Witch trials, strange sightings going back centuries. I wouldn't dismiss this at all. Did you get any photos? And did you notice any smell - sulphur, ozone, anything odd?

Sounds like a typical misidentified deer or even a very large dog on its hind legs tbh. The human brain does weird things in low light, especially when you're already spooked. No offense meant.

This needs to go on the database. Have you contacted any local paranormal investigation groups? There's a decent team based in Preston who do thorough work. They have thermal imaging kit and everything. Might be worth a proper investigation with witnesses present next time.

Spring-heeled Jack vibes. Seriously though, check your local records - Pendle has had unexplained creature sightings since at least the 1800s. You might not be the first.
